Preparation Center
Prepare for Your Inspection
A little preparation helps us inspect as much of your property as possible — which means a more complete picture in your report.
Every Inspection
For every inspection
- Clear access to the water heater, electrical panel, HVAC units, and other major systems
- Unlock gates, panels, closets, and any areas the inspector will need to enter
- Leave electricity, water, and gas (where safe) on so systems can be tested
- Secure pets for the duration of the visit
- Let everyone in the home know the inspection is scheduled
- Provide keys, codes, or remotes for locked areas, garages, or gates
If Applicable
If it applies to your property
- Clear storage away from the attic access hatch
- Make sure the crawlspace access door is clear and can be opened
- Leave pool/spa power on and make sure equipment areas are accessible
- Keep windows and exterior doors closed for about 12 hours before a radon test
- Make sure the sewer cleanout access is locatable and clear
- Don't clean or disturb areas where mold is suspected before the inspection
- Provide access to detached structures included in the inspection
